The Division of Engineering oversees the design and construction of capital infrastructure projects, ensures new development is compliant with the community’s standards, and manages permitting within the public right-of-way.

Our division engages the public about environmental issues in our community. We work closely with Waste Management and Water Quality to support recycling and stormwater efforts in Lexington. We also manage sustainability initiatives and handle the beautification and maintenance of the city's green spaces and corridors.

Sanitary sewer cleanings, inspections Sept. 25– 30

Residents on the streets listed below may see vehicles, work crews, and small equipment. Work crews will be wearing reflective vests and appropriate identification. Certain conditions may cause this schedule to change.

Free paper shred event – Saturday, Sept. 23

Fayette County residents may bring up to five boxes or bags of dry material to be shredded at no cost.
