Town Branch Trail (TBT) is a proposed shared-use greenway (paved route for pedestrians and bicyclists) that will connect downtown Lexington with Masterson Station Park and the Distillery District, along with area neighborhoods, other parks and historic sites. The trail follows the westward course of Lexington’s historic waterway, the Town Branch of Elkhorn Creek. The trail is a significant component of Lexington’s Bike and Pedestrian Plan (a broad network of bike facilities and trails planned for Fayette County).
TBT seeks to transform neglected or underutilized urban areas along our historic creek into a landscaped trail that will serve, among other things:
- recreation
- commuting
- the environment
- tourism
- businesses
In downtown, the Town Branch Trail runs through the Town Branch Commons. Once on the trail in downtown, users will be able to access the Legacy Trail at both the east and west ends of downtown. Learn more about the hub of this trail system by visiting the Town Branch Commons homepage.
