Average Winter Consumption (AWC)
Winter use averaging offers an advantage for our residential customers. The AWC is a system that automatically calculates a discounted rate.
We use AWC to avoid charging customers for summer water usage that does not enter the sewer system. It averages the use billed from November through April for months with at least one CCF of usage. From May through October, we calculate bills using AWC or the actual usage. We use whichever number is lower. Customers who do not have a past winter usage history will be billed at 90% of the actual usage.
If the leak or irrigation/pool fill happened in summer, check your LEXserv bill. The AWC discounted rate may cover any adjustment.
