Extended School Program (ESP)
Recreation leader
Lexington’s Extended School Program (ESP) is searching for recreation leaders for its after-school programs.
Recreation leaders are in charge of a group of elementary-aged children and are expected to monitor student behavior, program activities, and other duties as assigned. ESP After School: Monday – Friday, 2 – 6 p.m. No weekends and up to 20 hours per week. Can work with most schedules. Starting pay is $15.00/hr.

Maintenance
Seasonal Laborers
- Lexington Parks & Recreation is currently accepting applications for seasonal laborers for the summer season. Spend the summer working in some of the city’s most picturesque spots while helping make Lexington a better place to live and work!
- Job duties for these positions will vary, but will involve grounds maintenance including, but not limited to, mowing, trimming and weeding of parks, removal of trash and debris, cleaning of parks’ restrooms and buildings and supporting parks’ and city special events.
- Candidates must be 18 years of age or older to apply. Salary starts at $15 per hour.
- Applications are currently being accepted at Masterson Station Park Maintenance Facility (3544 Shamrock Lane), North Base Maintenance Facility (1793 Liberty Rd.) and Picadome Administrative Office (469 Parkway Dr.) anytime Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Candidates must apply in-person. There are no online applications for these positions.

Seasonal Part-Time Employment (Non-Civil Service)
Pay Rate: $15 hour
Schedule: Varies based on program needs - includes days/evenings/weekends
– 12-25 hrs. per week during spring/summer/fall months
– 8-12 hrs. per week during winter months
The Outdoor Programs Recreation Leader works as part of a team to engage the community in outdoor activities and environmental education through leading and assisting a variety of programs such as: archery, backpacking, camping, canoeing, cultural history, fishing, hiking, kayaking, mindfulness walks, orienteering, rock climbing, and tree identification. Recreation Leaders learn and develop technical and relational skills, while also sharing their appreciation for nature and outdoor activities with the public.

Recreation Supervisor – Community Center
The purpose of this classification is to supervise the daily operation of the division or department's recreation programs and activities of an assigned Community Center.
This position serves on a team of five Recreation Supervisors who each supervise one of our Parks and Recreation Community Centers. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations, program planning, and part-time staff supervision of either the Castlewood or Kenwick Community Center. Successful candidates bring a background and passion in working with children, youth and families and along with creativity and innovation to lead meaningful programming for the community.
Work hours are 11 a.m – 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Friday. Some weekend and evening shifts are required. Candidates must be willing to work these shifts.
