Lexington’s Recycle Center is temporarily closed from Dec. 4 – 15 to replace the baler.
For those with city waste collection, your last day to put out material for recycling until the center reopens on Dec. 16 is:
- Monday collection: Monday, Dec. 2
- Tuesday collection: Tuesday, Dec. 3
- Thursday or Friday collection: Wednesday, Nov. 27.
- There is no City waste collection on Thursday, Nov. 28 or Friday, Nov. 29 due to Thanksgiving.
Materials taken to recycling drop-off locations listed on the City website in Lexington will be landfilled during the shutdown.
Blue recycle carts put on the curb will be emptied, but material will be taken to the landfill.
If possible, we request that residents hold onto recyclables during the shutdown.
FAQ sheet (for temporary closure)
Lexington offers multiple drop-off locations for you to recycle. You can put aluminum and tin cans, plastic bottles and jugs, glass bottles and jars, dry cardboard, office paper, paper mail, newspaper, magazines and catalogs in the bins listed below. Shredded paper cannot go in these containers; hold shredded paper for the next Paper Shred event. Not all items with a recycle symbol are recyclable in Lexington, and contamination can harm equipment and place Recycle Center employees at risk. Materials should be loose, not bagged.
