Certification requirements for minority, women and veteran owned businesses
All minority, veteran and women owned businesses that are interested in doing business with the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government will have to be certified by a credible and recognized certifying agency.
What do we buy? How do we buy?
Lexington has a need to purchase items from office supplies to building materials. Purchases and needs from vendors vary by department.
Departments can make purchases through procards or formal and informal quotes. For larger projects, a Request For Proposal is issued and vendors can bid for the work.
RFPs are advertised in newspapers, online, and through the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Economic Engine Marketplace. All vendors must be registered with the city before submitting bids.
Disparity study
Information from the study will help LFUCG assess its efforts to encourage DBEs and minority- and woman-owned businesses to bid on the agency’s contracts and help inform what, if any, improvements are needed to optimize LFUCG’s contracting processes and the MBE Program.
