Regional Climate Action Plan input opportunity

The City of Lexington is working with the municipal governments of Bourbon, Clark, Jessamine, Scott and Woodford Counties to collaborate on regional climate action plans funded by a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency.

The first phase of planning focused on projects that are ready for implementation and has been completed. Regional meetings will be held in each county to seek public input to establish a Comprehensive Climate Action Plan as the next phase.

Fayette County’s meeting will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Marksbury Family Branch of the Lexington Public Library, 2197 Versailles Road. Doors will open at 5 p.m. for refreshments.

Lextran Route 8 serves the Marksbury Branch, and the library has bike racks available.

Community members are invited to learn about and comment on potential projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in our region. The majority of our region’s emissions come from electricity consumption and transportation.

Meetings will be held in each of the partner counties in the following weeks. Meeting details for each county will be posted as they are finalized. A virtual region-wide meeting and survey will also be provided later this year for additional input opportunities. All information will be posted to the Sustainability webpage
