Residents within Fayette and Jessamine counties are invited to review and offer input on the region’s 2025 to 2028 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The TIP is a program of projects that are ready to proceed during the next 4 years and have received a formal commitment of funding.
“The Transportation Improvement Program is the implementation part of the planning process. While our Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) identifies what the region wants to work on within the next 25 years, the TIP identifies what work will actually occur in the next 4 years,” said Chris Evilia with the Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). “The TIP recommendations are based on the highest priorities identified within our transportation plan (MTP) but we would like residents to review the proposed recommendations and let us know their thoughts on what projects from the MTP should be moving forward.”
To solicit input into the draft TIP, the MPO will hold an open-house listening session for the public to review the plan and talk with MPO planners at the Marksbury Branch of the Lexington Public Library, 2197 Versailles Road, on Wednesday, July 24, from 4 – 6 p.m.
The draft TIP and a virtual presentation of project recommendations are also available at lexarempo.org for the public to review and offer comments online. Additionally, people can direct questions and offer comments about the plan to the MPO by contacting the staff at lexareampo@lexingtonky.gov or (859) 258-3160. The MPO will be accepting comments regarding the draft TIP through Friday, Aug. 2, 2024. Comments may be submitted through the following formats:
