Founder’s Day is the annual celebration of the founding and naming of Lexington, which occurred at McConnell Springs in 1775. After 1775, the property would be owned by William McConnell for a short time before passing hands and being used for various industries such as gun-powered production, bourbon distillation, agriculture, and more. Today McConnell Springs is a Natural Area Park that is open all year for citizens to visit and enjoy. The event features historic reenactments, demonstrations of pioneer skills, vendors, exhibitors, crafts, presenters, and live music. Visitors to Founders Day will have the opportunity to learn more about how people lived during the earliest days of Lexington and the skills that it took to survive as a pioneer. This free event will be held rain or shine.
