Carlisle Avenue Homicide Investigation Arrest

UPDATE (5/9/2024): One person has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of Dennis Ruiz-Trujillo Jr., 18, that occurred on April 4, 2024.

Wilmer Romero, 18, was arrested and is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center on the below charges.

·       Murder

·       Contempt of Court

·       Tampering with Prison Monitoring Device

·       Trafficking a Controlled Substance

·       Trafficking Marijuana

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred overnight on Carlisle Avenue.

On Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 1:38 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Carlisle Avenue for shots fired. When officers arrived, they located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.  

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office will release the decedent’s name.
