UPDATE - October 31, 2024: One person has been arrested for the shooting death of Kenlon Johnson, 17, that occurred in March 2024.
Utilizing the department’s Real-Time Intelligence Center, including the Fusus platform and Flock Safety license plate readers, detectives were able to identify Jon’tay Mattingly, 19, as the suspect.
Mattingly was arrested on October 31, 2024, and charged with Murder in connection with the homicide and unrelated warrants. He is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred this morning.
On Friday, March 8, 2024, at 3:39 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Rockaway Place for a shooting with a victim. When officers arrived, they located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Detectives from the Personal Crimes Section are continuing to investigate.
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office will release the deceased victim’s name.
