‘Count Me In’ to begin in 2024

Beginning Jan. 1, 2024, Lexington Parks & Recreation is rolling out a new price structure for programs, camps, and events, including a more equitable financial assistance program titled “Count Me In.”

“Our mission at Lexington Parks & Recreation is to build community and enrich life through parks, programs, and play,” said Monica Conrad, Director of Lexington Parks & Recreation. “To meet that mission, we need to make sure everyone, no matter their financial situation, can participate and enjoy the many amazing events, programs, camps, and facilities we offer. As we’ve reworked our pricing structure, we’re excited to expand our financial assistance program with ‘Count Me In!’”

Previously, financial assistance (also referred to as scholarships) were available on select programs and events, and only for youth. Starting in 2024, any paid program or event will be eligible for a 50% financial assistance discount for youth and adults in qualifying households. Any extenuating circumstances that may still present barriers after the discount will be reviewed by staff on a case-by-case basis for additional assistance to ensure that programs and events are equitably accessible to all.

As is always the case, many programs and events remain free to the public. Prices for others remain as minimal as possible, with fees set to cover the costs of programs while keeping them affordable and accessible. More information about “Count Me In” is available on the Lexington Parks and Recreation website.
