Urban-County Council names new administrator

Shauntae Hall, who has worked for the city for 16 years, is the new administrator of the Urban County Council.

“Shauntae brings with her a wealth of knowledge and years of experience within our city government to the role of Council Administrator,” said Vice Mayor Dan Wu, who said the Council conducted a robust hiring and interviewing process.

For almost nine years, Hall has served as aide to Eighth District Councilmember Fred Brown. She previously worked in the Mayor’s Office, and the Chief Administrator’s Office.

The Council Administrator is the top staff position in the Council Office. The administrator supervises Council core staff, works with Council on setting budgets and policy, and manages the day-to-day operations of the office.

A graduate of the University of Louisville, Hall is currently working on a master’s degree in public administration at the University of Kentucky Martin School.

Hall and her husband, Darius, have two children. She is a native of Lexington.

Government service is a tradition in her family - both of Hall’s parents retired from careers in the city.

Hall officially starts in her new position on Oct. 30. She succeeds Stacey Maynard, who is now Chief Administrative Officer for the city of Harrodsburg.
