E911 accreditation

Public Safety Communications Accreditation Lexington Enhanced 911 is accredited by the Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.

What does this mean to you?

As a citizen, this is good news! The accreditation programs give public safety communication centers the tools necessary to ensure that all policies and procedures conform to the most up-to-date professional communication standards.  This accreditation is not mandatory, it reflects the agency's willingness to demonstrate professional excellence to the Lexington community.

CALEA

The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) was formed in 1979.

The Public Safety Communications Accreditation Program provides a communications center, or the communications unit of a public safety agency, with a process to systemically review and internally assess its operations and procedures.

This program requires organizations to collect and analyze important data to make sound operational and administrative business decisions and create leadership and practitioner accountability.

In addition, the focus is on quality assurance, interoperability, emerging technologies, risk analysis, asset security, resources access, contemporary training, and a range of other operational functions.

Public comment portal

CALEA has a public portal to receive comments regarding an agency's compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the service community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status. These comments can be in the form of commendations or concerns.
