All Fayette County residents who are able to transport their tree debris and other yard waste are encouraged to use one of the two free drop-off locations this month. This will allow city employees to focus on those who do not have that ability, which will get the city cleaned up faster.
Trees and other yard waste can be taken to the former Old Frankfort Pike Landfill, 1631 Old Frankfort Pike, at no charge. The site will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday, March 10. The entrance is off Old Frankfort Pike.
Residents can also drop off yard waste debris for free at the city’s Haley Pike landfill, 4216 Hedger Lane, open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. There will be no limit on the number of loads of yard waste and storm debris a resident can take to Haley Pike this month.
Material collected at both sites will be turned into mulch. For either site, a Fayette County driver’s license or other proof of residence in Fayette County is required.
If you live inside the urban service area and are unable to get your trees and yard waste to one of the drop-off sites, it can be left at the curb for collection. Stack your debris between the sidewalk and the curb. There are two ways to get it picked up:
- If you have city pick-up, the material you leave at the curb will be picked up as part of your normal weekly service as long as it is cut in 4-foot sections.
- If you do not have city pick-up, or if you have debris that you cannot cut into four-foot sections, you need to call 3-1-1 and schedule a pickup. The maximum length the City can handle is 12 feet, and material cannot exceed 16 inches in diameter.
