Maple Avenue Homicide Investigation Arrest

UPDATE: April 4, 2023 – One person has been charged in connection with the 2022 homicide of Nicole Morton on Maple Avenue.

Courtney Young, 31, was charged on April 4, 2023, with Murder, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Young was arrested on October 27, 2022, on unrelated warrants and is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in the early morning hours on Maple Avenue.  

On October 25, 2022, at around 3:59 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of Maple Avenue for shots fired. When officers arrived, they located a female victim inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was declared deceased at the scene by the Lexington Fire Department. 

The Fayette County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Nicole Morton, 33.
