After successfully promoting a clinic in the Versailles Road area last weekend, the City’s Lex Do This! campaign will be back on the streets today, Friday, and Saturday, going door-to-door to urge people to get a COVID-19 vaccine.
“Nearly 200 people received a vaccine at our Centro clinic last weekend, which set a record for folks who had been vaccinated at that location,” Mayor Linda Gorton said. “This week, we’re excited to take our clinic to the Winburn neighborhood, as we work to protect more people from COVID-19. Come on, Lexington, Lex Do This!”
Vaccines will be available from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Saturday, June 12, at Winburn Middle School. The vaccines are free and no appointment is needed.
Throughout the pandemic, the City has put an emphasis on ensuring underserved neighborhoods have convenient access, first to COVID-19 tests and, now, to the vaccine. “We have taken our mobile testing and vaccine program all over town to make testing and vaccines accessible,” Gorton said.
Canvassers are urging all Lexington residents, age 12 and over, to get a vaccine. Volunteers are invited to join the Lex Do This! canvassers as they make their way around Winburn and other neighborhoods. To volunteer for canvassing, go to lexdothis.nationbuilder.com.
