Reservations
Reservations are for second-grade school groups. There is no cost to attend. Reserve your visit as far in advance as possible. You can register online. Safety City is open by reservation only from 8 a.m. to noon, Monday – Thursday.
Due to the tight scheduling, reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis. You will receive a confirmation email prior to your visit and reminder email or phone call roughly one week before your visit.
Cancellations
If you need to cancel your visit, notify the Safety City staff no later than 8:15 a.m. on the day of your visit. If school is canceled due to inclement weather, every attempt to reschedule will be made.
Class Size
Due to the size limitation of our classroom, we can accept no more than 30 students per visit.
Teachers and Volunteers
Each visit should ideally include 1 – 3 teachers or 1 – 2 teachers and 1 volunteer. We do not have the space for more volunteers than this. All volunteers will be assigned to a workstation and should not bring other children.
We also request that volunteers do not leave the property during the program. We count on our teachers and volunteers to participate and assist us throughout the day, especially when we go outdoors. For our students’ safety, we do not allow parents to enter the building or driving course after we have started our day. If you are picking up your child at the end of the day, we will meet you in the parking lot.
Clothing
Everyone visiting Safety City should wear comfortable clothing and dress according to the weather. Closed-toe shoes are strongly encouraged for students.
Busing/Transportation
All busing arrangements should be made through the principal's office at your school or with parents directly. We do not arrange transportation for visitors.
Location
We are located at 1160 Harry Sykes Way, off Red Mile Road, between Central Equipment and Fayette Seed. Once you turn on Red Mile Place, drive past the Family Care Center and the Fayette Ag Extension Office. We are the next building on your left and you’ll see our mini-city in the back.
