At the core of the Lexington Police Department’s mission and values is a commitment to serving the community. Currently under the organizational arm of the Bureau of Special Operations, the Community Services Unit coordinates a variety of programs designed to provide both information and involvement for residents.

- Instructional program for boys and girls ages 14 – 21 who have an interest in law enforcement

- Educational program for children, generally in second grade

Citizen Police Academy
- Free 10-week program designed to foster better communication between citizens and police through education
- A different area of the department is covered each week with subject matter experts and demonstrations
