Give your yard signs a new purpose

Election Day is over, which means it’s time to take down political yard signs. Signs and stakes cannot be recycled in your blue recycle cart, but Lexington’s Division of Environmental Services will take them to reuse and recycle through Nov. 18, 2024.

Yard signs and metal stakes can damage equipment at the Recycle Center. Never put them in your recycle cart or a mixed recycling dumpster. Bring them to us instead! The metal stakes are reused or recycled as scrap metal. The corrugated plastic signs are recycled through Rumpke. The bag-like signs are recycled through Trex.

The City has partnered with local businesses and organizations to provide drop-off locations for yard signs through Nov. 18. Drop-off bins are available during the locations’ regular business hours, so be sure to check before you go.
