2023 General Election information

The 2023 General Election process has already begun. The Fayette County Clerk’s Office starts training over 1,100 Election Officers from Saturday, Sept. 30, through Monday, Oct. 30. The information below includes important dates, deadlines and locations as Election Day approaches.

Voter registration

Register to vote at govoteky.com by 4 p.m. on Oct. Tuesday 10, 2023, to vote in the November general election.

Absentee voting

To vote with an absentee ballot by mail, use the online portal at govoteky.com and request your absentee ballot by no later than 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023. Once your application is submitted, your ballot will be mailed. This method of voting is only available to certain qualified voters. Both mail-in ballots or ballots placed in the drop box in front of the County Clerk's office at 162 E. Main St. You can mail it in as well. The absentee ballot must be received no later than 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

In-person absentee voting with qualifying excuse

In-person absentee voting is available to voters with a qualifying excuse during early voting and General Election Day. It will be hosted at the County Clerk's Office at 162 E. Main St., room 202, from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 25 – 27 and Oct. 30 – Nov. 1, 2023. This voting method is restricted to voters who meet the specific qualifying reasons for absentee ballots and those in their third trimester of pregnancy, and election officers tasked with administration of the current election cycle.

Early voting

Early voting is available to any registered voter on Thursday, Friday and Saturday immediately before General Election Day, Nov. 2, 3 and 4, 2023.

Early voting will be held 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Northside Library (1733 Russell Cave Road)
  • Eastside Library (3000 Blake James Dr.)
  • Tates Creek Library (3628 Walden Dr.)
  • Lexington Senior Center (195 Life Lane)

Directional signs will be located at each location.

The fastest and easiest is your driver's license. View a list of all IDs that will work.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023. Voters must be registered and vote at their designated precinct. Voting information is available, including how to find location information and a sample ballot. Voting is available 6 a.m. - 6 p.m.
