Nickwood Trail Shooting Arrest

The Lexington Police Department has made an arrest in the August 11, 2022, shooting that occurred on Nickwood Trail. 

On August 11, 2022, at around 9:10 p.m., officers responded to the 800 block of Nickwood Trail for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located a 27-year-old male suffering from a gunshot. The victim was transported to a local hospital with reported non-life threatening injuries. 

During the course of the investigation, officers discovered that J’Lynn Hersey, 18, was involved in the shooting. Hersey was taken into custody on August 12 in connection with the shooting that occurred on East Short Street near Elm Tree Lane. In addition to charges from that incident, Hersey has also been charged with the following: 

  • Assault 1st Degree
  • Two Counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
  • Three Counts of Criminal Mischief 1st Degree
  • Two Counts of Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree
  • Two Counts of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree

 

Hersey is currently detained at the Fayette County Detention Center.
