One lane of Buckhorn Drive closed for sewer construction

One lane of Buckhorn Drive is closed for sanitary sewer construction over the next six months. Two-way traffic will be maintained during the lane closure, and driveways will remain accessible to residents.

This is a rolling lane closure that begins at Buckhorn Drive where the Squires Trail crosses to Berry Hill Park. The lane closure will move down Buckhorn Drive to end at Fenwick Road.

Drivers are asked to proceed slowly through the construction area and be aware of pedestrians, especially once school starts. The sidewalk on the Berry Hill Park side of the street will also be closed. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the other side of the street and avoid the construction area.

The Squires Trail will be open to pedestrian traffic in time for the first day of Fayette County Public Schools on Wednesday, August 16. The trail was closed over the summer for sewer construction. Final surface restoration and paving of the trail are scheduled for later this fall.

This project is part of the East Hickman Force Main, which involves nearly six miles of sanitary sewer pipe constructed from the new East Hickman Pump Station to the West Hickman Wastewater Treatment Plant. This new pipeline will allow the sewer system to support our growing community. This project is part of the federal consent decree requirements for Lexington to improve its sanitary sewer system.
