Suspect arrested in Buckhorn Drive shooting

Lexington Police make an arrest in a shooting investigation.

On Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at approximately 9:20 a.m., in the 1600 block of Claywood Court, a 19-year-old suspect, Javon McMullen, was arrested for a shooting incident in July 2021.

Around 1:35 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2021, officers responded to a collision with a victim shot in the Buckhorn Drive and Alumni Drive area. Upon arrival, officers were advised that the 31-year-old victim was transported in a passenger car to a local hospital. The injuries were reported as non-life threatening.

After further investigation, it was determined that the victim located and followed his stolen vehicle. The suspect began shooting when confronted.

The investigation led to the following charges being placed on McMullen.

-Assault 1st Degree

-Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree

-Leaving the Scene of an Accident

-Theft by Unlawful Taking (Automobile)

McMullen has been lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
