Canceled Golden Alert Issued for Missing Lexington Man

UPDATE: The Golden Alert for Matthew Shuping has been canceled. 

At 8:10 a.m. today, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Bryanwood Parkway for a subject experiencing a mental health crisis. Officers were able to make contact with the individual and de-escalate the situation. 

No further information is available.

The Lexington Police Department has issued a Golden Alert for a missing Lexington man. Matthew Tanner Shuping, 29, was last seen on July 11, 2023, at around 9:47 p.m., in the 1600 block of Wakefield Drive.

Shuping has a history of mental illness and may be suicidal. He is believed to be traveling in a gray Ford Ranger with Kentucky license plate 364 XBB.

He is 5’11” tall and approximately 160 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. No clothing description is known at this time.

Anyone with knowledge of Matthew Shuping’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
