Weather Advisory – Fourth of July Events

As Lexington prepares for a busy few days with Fourth of July events, the City is watching the weather and has plans in place for any adjustments needed depending on weather. See below for information about each event.

EVENT: Patriotic Concert
WHERE: Transylvania University and Gratz Park
WHEN: Wednesday, July 3, 2024 | 5 p.m. (preshow), 7:30 p.m. (Lexington Philharmonic)
WEATHER PLAN: Rain or shine but may delay if there is any severe weather expected.

EVENT: Bluegrass 10,000 and Fun Run
WHERE: Main St. and N. Limestone (10K), Short St. & N. Limestone (Fun Run)
WHEN: Thursday, July 4, 2024 | 7:25 a.m. (10K), 8:30 a.m. (Fun Run)
WEATHER PLAN: Rain is likely throughout the race. Race will continue as scheduled unless there is high wind or severe storm activity, which may delay the start.

EVENT: Fourth of July Festival, Market, & Declaration Reading
WHERE: Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza (Festival)
and Henry A. Tandy Centennial Park (Market & Declaration Reading)
WHEN: Thursday, July 4, 2024 | 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
WEATHER PLAN: Rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, the area will be cleared for a delay and people should seek shelter.

EVENT: Fourth of July Parade
WHERE: Main St. (downtown)
WHEN: Thursday, July 4, 2024 | Noon
WEATHER PLAN: Rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, the start may be delayed. If the delay is extended past 1 p.m., the parade will be canceled.

EVENT: Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular
WHERE: Main St. and Oliver Lewis Wy.
WHEN: Thursday, July 4, 2024 | 10 p.m.
WEATHER PLAN: Improved forecast expected. Rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, the start may be delayed. If severe weather persists, fireworks will reschedule to same time on Friday, July 5.

EVENT: Summer Nights – Red, White & Blues
WHERE: Moondance Amphitheater
WHEN: Friday, July 5, 2024 | 7 – 9  p.m.
WEATHER PLAN: Rain or shine. If severe weather happens, show may be delayed or canceled.
