Southbend Drive will be closed beginning Monday, June 17 from Clays Mill Road to Lafayette Parkway. The closure will allow a sanitary sewer line to be constructed at the creek crossing. The road is scheduled to be open in time for the first day of Fayette County Public Schools on August 14.
Motorists can detour around the closure by using Reed Lane, which runs parallels to Southbend Drive between Clays Mil Road and Lafayette Parkway.
Residents will be able to access their homes during construction.
Construction is part of the Wolf Run Trunk F sanitary sewer project, which will replace and upsize over 3,500 feet of sanitary sewer line along Wolf Run Creek from Spring Meadows Drive to Lafayette Parkway. This project is part of the city’s obligations under the court-ordered consent decree with the Environmental Protection Agency to improve Lexington’s sanitary sewers.
