Interstate 75 Fatal Collision Investigation

The Lexington Police Department Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision.

Around 12.23 p.m., June 5, 2021, officers responded to Northbound Interstate 75 at the 104 mile marker for a vehicle traveling the wrong direction. Division of Enhanced 911 had received a call indicating that a dark passenger car had entered the interstate traveling the wrong direction. Before officers could locate the vehicle, an update was provided that a head-on collision had occurred. 

Upon arrival officers located the dark passenger car operated by a 38-year-old female who was deceased. The dark passenger car had struck a white passenger car head-on. A deceased child was located in the front passenger seat of the white car. An additional three children and the 30-year-old driver of the white passenger car were transported to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has not released the names of the involved individuals.
