Dakota Street Homicide Investigation Arrest

UPDATE 5/23/24: One person has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of Russell Houston, 50, that occurred Friday night on Dakota Street.

Sheri Phillips, 35, was charged on May 23, 2024 with Murder and Possession of Handgun By Convicted Felon.  Phillips is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening on Dakota Street.  

On Friday, May 17, 2024, around 8:46 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Dakota Street for a shooting with a victim. When officers arrived, they located a male victim outside suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office will release the decedent’s name.
