Sound the trumpets, blow the horns – Lexington’s free Big Band & Jazz concert series announces lineup

Lexington’s division of Parks & Recreation has announced the 2023 schedule for the Big Band & Jazz summer concert series. The series, presented by Parks & Recreation, is sponsored by the American Federation of Musicians Local 554-635, who assist with scheduling the performers.

“There’s nothing like jazz in the park, and we have a strong lineup coming to Lexington this summer,” said Jessica Piersol, Special Events Manager for Parks & Recreation. “Bring a picnic, grab your lawn chairs, and join us at two of our amazing parks – Moondance Amphitheater and Ecton Park – for a great summer of jazz, swing, and big band music!”

Big Band & Jazz, which has been going strong for over 40 years, will kick things off at Moondance Amphitheater with concerts every Tuesday from May 16 – June 27 before moving to Ecton Park for the remainder of the series, July 11 – August 15. Ecton Park, which also offers a playground, tennis courts, and baseball fields, recently opened a new restroom and concessions building at the park.
