Residents within Fayette and Jessamine counties are invited to review and offer input on the region’s 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). This long-range plan guides the development of regionally significant transportation projects and services and how federal highway and public transportation dollars are to be utilized over the next 25 years.
“The World has changed in a significant way since 2020 and how many of us will get from point A to point B in the future will also change. This plan is important to identify the changes our community desires by the year 2050 and public feedback is essential to adequately understanding that,” said Chris Evilia with the Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). “The draft plan identifies the region’s long-term transportation goals and proposed priorities through 2050 based on what we’ve previously heard from our residents. We would like residents to review the plan recommendations and let us know their thoughts on what’s being proposed.”
To solicit input into the draft MTP, the MPO will hold six open-house listening sessions for the public to review the plan and talk with MPO planners (see dates/times/locations on next page). The draft 2050 plan is also available at lexarempo.org for the public to review and offer comments online. Additionally, people can direct questions and offer comments about the plan to the MPO by contacting the staff at lexareampo@lexingtonky.gov or at (859) 258-3160. The MPO will be accepting comments regarding the draft MTP through Monday, April 15, 2024. Comments may be submitted through the following formats:
