Smith Street shooting investigation arrest

The Lexington Police Department has arrested a man wanted in connection with a shooting.

On January 31, 2022, at approximately 1317 hours, officers responded to the 400 block of Smith Street for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 31 year-old male and another 18 year-old male, both with non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a local hospital.

After further investigation, Antione Mays, 20, has been charged with the following:

  • Assault 1st Degree
  • Assault 2nd Degree
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • Mays has been lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
     

During the investigation, two additional subjects were charged.

  • 19 year-old – Receiving Stolen Property – Firearm
  • 16 year-old Juvenile – Minor in Possession of a Handgun
     

The investigation is still ongoing.
