With a wintry mix that arrived overnight, motorists are advised to use caution on their morning drive. Roads are currently in good condition, but drivers should be aware that slick spots could be possible in some locations, especially on bridges, overpasses and other untreated surfaces.
The Divisions of Streets & Roads and Water Quality, along with contractors, have been out since 8 p.m. last night, pre-treating roadways per the City’s snow plan. Crews will remain on duty as needed, treating any trouble spots.
City offices that are not involved in weather-related work will delay opening until 10 a.m.
The Lexington Senior Center will be open, but all instructor-led activities will be canceled, and they will not serve lunch. The fitness center will run regular hours.
Motorists should drive slowly and allow extra time to reach their destination. Individuals should also be mindful of sidewalks and parking lots that might be icy and cause them to lose their footing.
The Office of Homelessness Prevention and Intervention Emergency Winter Weather Plan has been activated. This plan will remain in effect through and including the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 1. The plan includes expanded shelter services and free transportation to shelters. If you see someone who may need shelter, call the Lexington Police Dept. non-emergency number at (859) 258-3600.
