There is a two-hour delay for all city employees not involved in the response to weather conditions. Employees and all residents are encouraged to use caution when traveling.
Streets & Roads and Water Quality treated and monitored roads overnight. The night crew addressed any refreezing and any ranked roads still untreated. Staff will continue with monitoring and treating efforts as needed.
Residents should take extra caution when driving this morning. The roads can be slick after refreezing last night. Remember that extreme cold temperatures require additional precautions. The area is expected to face a wind chill of minus 10 this morning. Wear multiple layers when going outside and limit exposed skin by wearing a hat, gloves and face coverings.
The Lexington Senior Center is open, however, instructor led activities/classes are canceled and lunch will not be served. The fitness center will operate on regular hours. The Lexington Senior Center’s satellite centers at the Bell House, Charles Young Center and Eldercrafters at the Black and Williams Center are closed Tuesday.
The Office of Homelessness Prevention & Intervention Emergency Weather Plan remains in effect through the morning of Thursday, Jan. 18. The plan includes expanded shelter services and free transportation to shelters. The Emergency Weather Plan and a list of shelters are available at lexingtonky.gov/homelessness-prevention-and-intervention. Residents who see someone who may need shelter should call the Lexington Police Department non-emergency number at (859) 258-3600.
