Sustainability
Sustainability means using resources to meet our needs today without harming the ability of future generations to meet their needs. It involves three main areas:
- Environment: Protecting natural resources and reducing pollution to keep our planet healthy.
- People: Ensuring fair and equitable treatment for all individuals, and improving quality of life.
- Economy: Creating robust economic systems that can support ongoing growth without depleting resources.
This approach helps strengthen our community and improve its ability to handle challenges. By doing these things, LFUCG shows how we can all work together for a better future.
Climate Action Plan input survey
Bourbon, Clark, Fayette, Jessamine, Scott and Woodford counties, and the municipal governments within those counties, have been collaborating on regional climate action plans funded by a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency.
The first phase of planning, which focused on implementation-ready measures – the Priority Climate Action Plan – has been completed. The six-county collaborative is now expanding the PCAP into a Comprehensive Climate Action Plan and is seeking public input on potential projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the region.
