Available assistance

The Lexington Senior Center has two Master's Level Social Workers and one bachelor's level social worker. Each social worker has different job responsibilities that include information and assistance, resource connections, referrals to other agencies, and more. Call the center to speak with a social worker and to set up an appointment. Please be ready to give a brief description of what you need so you can be connected with the appropriate social worker. 

Ways we can help

  • Financial Assistance –  yearly assistance with utility bills or rent as funds are available
  • Food Assistance – God’s Pantry referrals, Commodities program, Farmer’s Market vouchers (June), Thanksgiving baskets (August – September)
  • Volunteer opportunities - in-house and community volunteering opportunities 
  • Technology - assistance from volunteers to better understand and use electronic devices like smart phones, tablets, and others
  • General information on available resources - information on agencies in Lexington that can provide assistance
  • Home care options and resources - list of home care options
  • Medicare Part D and insurance assistance - questions regarding annual open enrollment for Part D and supplemental insurance, referrals to agencies in town that can assist with understanding your options and signing up for specific plans
  • Medication and medical equipment assistance - referrals to programs that can assist with durable medical equipment, supplemental nutrition and medication assistance programs
  • Senior Housing Options - list of senior friendly and income based housing in Lexington
  • Transportation Information - assistance with transportation applications, information regarding available options in Lexington
  • Carrier Alert - information and sign up assistance for the Carrier Alert Program
