Landscaping

All landscaping must comply with Article 18 of the Zoning Ordinance. Any new building construction that occurs requires submission of landscape plans for approval prior to issuance of a building permit. Landscaping is required in conjunction with all new parking areas, between differing zones and along public right of ways. There are specific ordinances that apply to Richmond Road, Georgetown Road, Old Frankfort Pike, Man O Boulevard, and Newtown Pike.

Street trees are required on all new collector and local residential streets. Developers of new areas are required to plant trees as shown on the approved record plat. The Downtown Street Tree Ordinance regulates installation of street trees in the downtown area. Street trees are also required on new collector and local streets in Professional Office Zones.
