Lexington Parks & Recreation offers tackle and flag football leagues for boys and girls ages 6 – 11. Participants learn the fundamental skills and techniques of tackle football and flag football. Our football leagues are established on the core values of equity, competition, and sportsmanship, and encourage and promote youth advocacy, family engagement and volunteerism.
Fall Youth Football Training League (Tackle)
In the Youth Football Training League, participants will learn the fundamental skills and techniques of tackle football. Each player is guaranteed game-day playing time. The youth football training league is established on the core values of equity, competition, and sportsmanship, and encourages and promotes youth advocacy, family engagement, and volunteerism.

2024 Youth Football League regular season schedule
Games are scheduled weekly on:
- Saturdays at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
- Sundays at 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

To register for the 2024 season, contact Cornell Burbage at cburbage@lexingtonky.gov or (859) 288-2917. You may also mail the form or drop off in person at Dunbar Community Center.
All incoming players will be assigned a team/park depending on school attended during 2024/2025 school year. Verification of school enrollment is required before start of season. Returning 11 year-old participants, in their final season of participation, are able to remain on their previous season’s team for final year.

Eligibility is determined by the participant's age as of Aug. 1, 2024.
- Ages 6 – 7 (Rookie)
- Ages 8 – 9 (Junior)
- Ages 10 – 11 (Varsity)
Fees and financial assistance/scholarships
$65 per participant
Uniform cost not included.
Financial assistance / Scholarships
A limited number of scholarships are available. Partial scholarships are available to participants based on need.
Individuals seeking scholarships must fill out an income eligibility application. Proof of income includes KTAP, KCHIP, medical card or another form of government aid.
All participants must re-apply for scholarship eligibility every year.

We are seeking officials for our youth football league. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Experience in officiating or participation on a high school or college team is preferred but not necessary.

Summer Youth Flag Football League
In the Youth Co-ed Flag Football League, participants will learn the essential skills and strategies of flag football. Each player is guaranteed game-day playing time. The youth co-ed flag football league is established on the core values of equity, competition, and sportsmanship, and encourages and promotes youth advocacy, family engagement, and volunteerism.
Season & Schedule
The schedule for the 2024 youth co-ed flag football league games will be announced soon. Games will take place on Sundays from June 16 – July 21 at Shillito Park. All teams will play 6 regular season games and all players are guaranteed playing time.

Registration for the 2024 flag football league opens on Monday, April 8 at 10 a.m.
